How can I get trade union support with my workplace issue?
You must be a member of a trade union to receive trade union representation, advice and support with your workplace issue.
There are three recognised trade unions at Warwick UCU, UNISON, and Unite. Find out more about the trade unions, who they represent, who to contact, and how to join.
There are some differences in eligibility for support based on your membership start date:
- UCU - You can receive support from a branch caseworker from day one of your membership. The UCU legal fund requires you to be a member for 3 months, prior to the event/incident for which you need assistance from a solicitor.
- UNISON - You must be a member for four weeks prior to the workplace issue arising to receive support from a UNISON caseworker (or to receive legal assistance).
- Unite - You must be a member for four weeks before you can receive legal assistance, but can receive support from a branch caseworker from day one of your membership.
How can a trade union support me with my workplace issue?

- Explaining or answering any questions you may have about relevant University policy or processes.
- Helping you to prepare your case in advance of a formal meeting or submission.
- Representing and supporting you at formal meetings.
