Following the pre-event webinar, the From Baku to Belém workshop will bring together global experts and policymakers to critically review COP29 climate finance outcomes and strategise on just and equitable climate action leading into COP30 in Belém, Brazil, November 2025.
This in-person workshop will focus on pathways to mobilising US$1.3 trillion annually for climate finance by 2035 and the governance reforms necessary to meet this target. Through presentations and discussions, participants will engage with key negotiators, financial institutions, NGOs, and researchers, all united in working toward equitable climate solutions and ambitious finance pathways.
This capacity-building session supported by R&IS; is designed for academic researchers, particularly early career researchers (ECRs), who seek to deepen their engagement with global climate finance policy, especially within multilateral contexts such as COP.
The session will focus on the skills and tools necessary for developing policy-relevant research in climate finance, law, policy, and governance. With the aim of enabling our researchers to confidently and meaningfully contribute to global multilateral forums.
The session will bridge the gap between academic research and policy advocacy, brokering direct engagement between ECRs and key stakeholders involved in multilateral climate finance negotiations. By the end of this session, participants will have gained practical insights into producing evidence-based policy solutions, while interacting with experts and policymakers from leading global institutions.
