Creating Healthy Jobs

Fixing jobs to improve the nation's health
We know that poor quality jobs can limit people’s ability to work and lead to long-term sickness absence and even ‘economic inactivity’. The impact harms businesses, workers, the state and the UK economy. It can also deepen health inequalities.
Despite these problems, current policy and practice tends to be remedial. It focuses more on fixing workers and less on fixing the jobs that impact negatively on health in the first place.
This project will create a co-designed benchmark for building healthy jobs that can be used by government, employers and others to identify, create and sustain healthier jobs.
