Charlotte Woodhead to deliver interactive session at the Resonate Festival
Dr Charlotte Woodhead will deliver an interactive outreach session on ‘Discovering our Intangible Cultural Heritage: Law in Context’ at the Resonate Festival on Saturday 31 May 2025. The session forms part of The Resonate Festival of Arts & Culture – Day Out taking place in the Faculty of Arts and the Oculus Buildings at the University of Warwick. The event is aimed at people of all ages and encourages attendees to unleash their creativity with lots of hand on activities, performances and creative demonstrations.
If you are interested in attending this event, book your tickets now on the Resonate Festival website.
Charlotte’s session will be one of the drop-in activities running throughout the day. It is recommended for ages 4+ so everyone can get involved. She told us a little more about what the session will involve.
Cultural heritage is not simply important historic places or objects in museums, but also things that we do as part of our daily lives, particularly with communities of which we are members. In this interactive session you can explore what intangible cultural heritage is and the role that law plays in safeguarding it. Through a series of activities you can explore different types of intangible heritage, like folklore, festivals, language and traditions. Take the opportunity to pause and reflect about what intangible cultural heritage is important to you and add to our intangible cultural heritage display. Then play the role of the policymaker – what would you choose to recognise officially as the UK’s intangible cultural heritage? How can the law help this to be cared for so that it can be enjoyed, developed and passed on to future generations?
She told us:
“I’m looking forward to engaging with visitors from our local communities, of all ages to show how law isn’t just about rules and courts, telling us what we can and can’t do, but that law also enables us to care for things that are really important to us all.”
There are lots of other activities to get involved in too. It promises to be an exciting event.
