Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP)
A personal plan for staff and students who require assistance or special arrangements to get to safety during an evacuation. This only applies to certain individuals.
The University of Warwick actively encourages all staff and students who cannot evacuate a building on their own to complete an initial online assessment, which will help determine the level of assistance which may be required for safe evacuation of a building in an emergency.

Emergency Evacuation
-
Know Your Exit:
Identify the nearest fire exit upon entering the Library. Exits are marked with green signs showing a running figure.
Library Floor Plans display Fire Exit locations.
-
Building Separation:
The Main and Extension Buildings are treated as separate zones. If the alarm sounds in one building, you cannot enter the other until it is safe.
The connecting bridge will also be closed.
-
Evacuation Procedure:
A loud continuous siren signals an emergency. Lifts will be disabled. Proceed to the nearest Fire Exit and gather at Library Square. Look at the University of Warwick Virtual Map for more assistance.
-
Refuge Points:
If you cannot use the stairs, wait at a designated Refuge Point (marked "R" on Library Floor PlansLink opens in a new window). Staff will notify responders of your location while you wait for assistance. An example of what they look like is pictured below.
NOTE:
- The Library conducts a test fire alarm every Thursday at 8:30 AM, which can be heard inside the Accessible Study Rooms.
Please feedback any comments you have about our existing service for students with disabilities or learning differences. We are always interested to hear about equipment, assistive-software or services that may assist you with accessing the Library and its resources.
